Local park with scenic paddling and a campground

  • This is a lovely park that has canoe and kayak rentals available at the camp store; paddling is definitely the highlight. From the put in, go right, and then take another right into Gordon Creek for a peaceful and scenic paddle. It is a good place to take reflection photos.

Notes from visits

  • We visited for lunch and a paddle, but did not stay in the campground. There are nicer, more spacious options in the area (e.g., Newport News Park Campground), but it did have full hookups. And some sights have nice views of the river.
